Goed nieuws voor hardloopfanaten: je zal binnenkort geen smartphone meer nodig hebben om jouw sessies te kunnen tracken, want sportschoenmaker New Balance gaat een smartwatch lanceren die volledig zelfstandig werkt.
De fabrikant lanceerde evenwel nog niets concreets, maar het kwam wel met de aankondiging dat het ‘later dit jaar’ met een smartwatch komt die autonoom alle gegevens van jouw inspanningen bijhoudt zonder dat je een telefoon moet meesleuren.
Hoe het toestel precies zal werken, is nog niet duidelijk, maar New Balance gaat er alvast prat op dat het horloge zaken als gps-tracking, hartslagmeting en zelfs het beluisteren van muziek allemaal mogelijk moeten zijn via de smartwatch.
Voor de ontwikkeling van het toestel heeft New Balance een nieuwe divisie opgericht: Digital Sport. Die zal zich in de toekomst focussen op het inbouwen van sensoren in sportuitrusting en alles wat met sportstracking te maken heeft.
